Play Theory and Benefits of Outdoor Play

What is play? Play is a way for children to make sense of the world around them. It is a universal part of childhood, as it crosses cultures and even species. As adults, we may remember playing as children, but struggle to understand it now. Many researchers and theorists have also tried to make sense of play.

Play Frames - Gregory Bateson

Play Frames attempts to describe the process and container of play. The frame describes the boundaries of the play, the make-believe “rules” and how children are navigating social interactions. All children must agree and adhere to the boundaries of the play-frame or it can be broken.
